Sunday 5th of August 2012 - Monthly Cruise West Australian Racing Museum

The MX-5 Club cruise on the 1st Sunday of each month.

We gather in the carpark between the Burswood Dome and Great Eastern Highway (Click here to view a map) at 9:00 and depart 9:30am sharp.

This month we are doing a 108 km scenic cruise to Neil McCrudden’s West Australian Racing Museum.

Neil commenced construction in 2008 of a multi purpose museum complex which includes a fully equipped workshop for his collection of historic open wheel racing cars. The Museum’s aim is to find the old West Australian built specials or those which raced in WA; the museum’s role is to either acquire these local cars or assist their owners bringing them back to life.

To date Neil’s collection has grown to in excess of 20 cars most of which are continually being raced by various drivers, whilst other cars are currently being restored to their former glory or are awaiting their turn for the restoration process to begin. The WARM collection is believed to be the largest collection of historic racing cars that actually race in the Southern Hemisphere.

Construction of the West Australian Racing Museum complex was completed earlier this year and whilst not normally open to the public Neil welcomes the MX-5 Club to have a look at his collection and the cars in the workshop.

After a look around we make our way to the nearby Gate Bar & Bistro for a chat over lunch or coffee.
