Friday 14th of October 2022 - Road Trip 2022 Donnelly River

The 2022 Road Trip is all go. The dates are Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October 2022.
We have Chalet’s on hold for us and have mapped out exciting drives for all days as options for you.

The Road Trip will be based at [Donnelly River] again due to the difficulty of pre-booking accommodation as most places have already been booked out!

[Donnelly River] is a former timber mill town and present-day holiday village in the South-Western Forests. Accomodation is in the renovated and upgraded mill workers cottages.

We are planning a very different selection of roads and activities for 2022 as a guide for the Road Trip and as usual MX-5ers are welcome to make up there own routes and activities.

The club has booked five 3 and 4 bedroom self contained cottages at Donnelly River Holiday Village for Friday and Saturday night. If you would like to splash out for your own chalet you are welcome to do so, please keep us in the loop. The Workers Club was already booked out from Mid September to Mid December! and we will use a larger chalet as the social focus point instead this year. We have plenty of access to fire pits, firewood and indoor and outdoor space.

Join us for the full run or meet up with us Friday night
If you can get Friday off work you can join us for the full 3 day road trip including the Friday cruise via Caves Road to Donnelly River Holiday Village.
Alternatively you can catch up with us on Friday night at Donnelly River Holiday Village. We will have the welcome fire roaring, and join us for the Saturday and Sunday runs.
For those that would like to head down after work on the Friday, Donnelly River Village is 275 km South of Perth and can be reached in 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and route you take.

Friday 14 October
We meet at [The Crooked Carrot] on the Forrest Highway in Myalup at 11:30 am for an early Lunch before we depart at noon to explore the Geographe hinterland and the Margaret River area with a 480 km drive through the Tuart and Ludlow forests and along Caves Road with an regroup for afternoon tea at the [White Elephant Beach Cafe] in Gnarabup Beach. We continue heading further south then inland via Nannup to Donnelly River Holiday Village. We should have you arriving around 5 pm.
Friday evening we gather from 7pm onwards at Monohan House (No.33) for after dinner drinks around the fire pit (or, in case of rain, on the large verandah).

Saturday 15 October
On Saturday we explore the Southern Forests with a cruise down the back roads via Pemberton and Northcliffe to the [Tookulup Lookout] in Windy Harbour returning to the Northcliffe Hotel for lunch. For those that want to get out of the car you may want to stop at the [the Cascades] near Pemberton and take the short 30 minute walk to Lefroy Brook, or walk the 400m  [Pupalong Loop Walk] at Windy Harbour, alternatively enjoy the 500m [Understory Art & Nature Trail] or the 500m [Northcliffe Forest Park Walk] both at Northcliffe. After lunch at the Northcliffe Hotel we head back towards Manjimup on the Wheatley Coast road through [Quinninup] before heading back along Graphite Road via Nannup to Donnelly River, giving you the options to walk the [Kari Lake Trail], spend some time in Manjimup or visit the [Nannup Lavender Farm]. Alternatively add 60 km and include the Nannup-Balingup Road!
Saturday night we plan to have a casual communal dinner and tall stories around the fire pit amongst the tall trees.
