Sunday 4th of January 2015 - Monthly Cruise - Bob's Do the Locomotion Cruise

If you missed last January’s collectors cruise don’t miss this one. Last year Bob Sharpe changed tack from just visiting car collections to collecting cars on the cruise as we were joined by Ferrari’s, Mustangs, and the RAWW’s guys and a record 75 cars took part last year.

So join in and be part of something special and slightly mad for the first cruise of the 2015 year extravaganza; the “DO THE LOCOMOTION CRUISE” will start at the Cockburn Gate Shopping Centre in the car park near the Gate Bar & Bistro (Click here to view a map) at 9:00 and depart 9:30am sharp and finish at the Rail Heritage Museum in Bassendean around 11am.

There is a $9 per head entry fee to this great collection of locomotives, diesels and rolling stock. Parking is on the street but the street is loooong. A fun way to learn about the railway history of WA, see the work done by the volunteers and get up close and personal with some steam locomotives. The volunteers who run the museum are;

1. Opening early just for us, so please support this run.

2. Arranging free guided tours if you want to participate or just wander around yourselves.

3. Arranging photo opportunities for some cars alongside their massive steam monsters. NB: Low ground clearance may prevent some cars entering and only limited numbers can participate.

4. If you bring your own picnic they are making a vintage dining car available to us to eat in.

5. The model railway club will be operating and the museum building will be open.

Drinks and snacks are available on site but for more substantial meals Bassendean and Guildford towns are 5 minutes away with cafes, hotels, restaurants and antique shops as is the Maylands Hotel in the opposite direction. Toilet facilities are available.
