Sunday 12th of November 2023 - Country Cruise - 5 Valley Dash

Take your “Five for long Drive” through the Collie, Ferguson, Preston, Blackwood and Capel Valleys and spend some time on roads further afield. It is not a relaxed tour of the region with long lunches and coffee breaks; it is about the drive and the roads. This spirited drive may challenge a single driver, or it will be a bit more laid-back (but no less fun) for two. It won’t be a navigation exercise; the instructions are straightforward and will be emailed to you in advance so you can put them in your GPS if you want to.

We meet at Crooked Carrot Cafe, corner Forrest Highway & Rigg Road, Myalup some 135 km south of Perth at 9 am for a 9:30 am departure. Get there a bit earlier if you want to have breakfast, they are open from 6 am!
From Myalup the 390 km drive along secondary roads takes you into the forests of the Geographe Bay hinterland, farmland, hills, vines, National Parks, State Forests and of course that magic bit of twisting black-top along the Blackwood River, which we do in both directions, with a stop at the Nannup Brewery Co. for lunch.

We finish around 4 pm at the Ha Ve Harvey Cheese in Wokalup some 140 km south of Perth to reflect on the day's drive and share some stories before you make your own way home. Their café offers tea, coffee, ice cream and other sweets and cheese tasting.

All in all you are looking at a total distance of some 670 km; a bit more if you hail from the northern suburbs and a bit less if you are a southerner.
