COMING EVENT

Sunday 4th of May 2025 - Monthly Cruise - Moondyne Festival

Simon Corston is taking us the Moondyne Festival which celebrates the life of Moondyne Joe, Western Australia’s only bushranger, whose main claim to fame was his ability to escape prison, despite a special reinforced cell having been constructed to keep him in.

The festival is a wonderful display of life in another time with many locals and stallholders dressing in period costume. There is street theatre with Joe and his various escapades are brought back to life through street theatre; Joe and his gang run riot throughout the town of Toodyay holding up anyone they think might have money, or cozying up with the floozies that seem to follow him everywhere. Joe must do battle with those pesky temperance ladies and evade the local constabulary who are intent on catching him and locking him up. Joe is caught and put on trial but yet again, escapes to create even more chaos. There is a moustache competition for the blokes and a Floozie competition for the “ladies’. Along with a colonial village, swaggies camp, woodchip exhibition, blade shearer and a blacksmith – all authentic to the period.

We meet near the Muzz Buzz at the Central Beechboro Shopping Centre on the corner of Beechboro Road North & Benara Road, Beechboro (Click here to view a map) at 9 am and depart 9:30 am sharp.
