27/03/20 - Social Distancing Update - All Events Suspended

When I wrote to you on March 17 I told you that social distancing was a moving target, with each day providing additional strategies to minimise the risk of spreading this virus. Well much has changed in the 10 days since I wrote to you.

We now have Stage 2 restrictions on social gatherings and the PM told us to ‘stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary you go out'.

Many among our ranks are in the age group where the virus may cause real issues, possibly life threatening. Even if you only end up with a mild dose (many/most of us will eventually), you become a possible burden to our health system and further, risk passing it on to someone more at risk than yourself.

The longer it can be delayed before the "inevitable" happens, the better it will be for the health system and those around you. I don't want any of you struck down and fighting for your life because we can't ensure your safety on club events, and while we love our cars and the social life associated around them, the risk of exposure to needless hazards seems irresponsible.

Your Committee has therefore decided to suspend all club social and motorsport events until further notice with immediate effect.

The committee values your support and understanding. We have not taken this decision lightly. Our main concern is the well being of you and yours. Please take care of yourselves and we will recommence running events at the first opportunity.
